FYI There is a tool for an easy removal of split valve guides. They are not expensive and are easy to use. Most vendors carry this tool.

Take your battery to an auto parts store and have them do a load test on the battery. Your post indicates a possible bad cell.

Sounds like a Marvel Schebler to me. I run one on my A and love it. I think it is superior to the Zenith and Tillison. Much better acceleration when cruising in 3rd at about 45-50. I have run a Tillison and have a brand new rebuilt Zenith under my seat. Just my opinion.

You may have an inch or more of sludge in the bottom of your pan causing a false reading on the dipstick. Drain your oil and then poke your finger up into the pan. You may find sludge. Only way to fix is to pull the pan and clean it out.
