    Phaeton Top

The irons should fold relatively flat without having to disconnect any of the fittings. Our ‘29 touring car wil fold flat without any disassembly, but the leather “hold down straps” that attach to the top rest saddles are most helpful and in fact necessary to keep the irons, once folded, from...

    Model a fordor Murray question

The door posts are not interchangeable, as the earlier models had wooden floor sills and doorposts; the 1931 slant windshield fordors had both steel flooring and door posts - no wood bracing in either. Hope this helps.

    Old car insurance

Several years back I had my '69 Corvette insured with J.C. Taylor. An unmarried 21 year old girl with two children pulled out in front of me without looking and I T-boned her, taking off the nose of my car back to the doors. J.C. Taylor denied the claim stating that uninsured/underinsured...

    another mystery part to identify.....

Over the years I have seen three unique heaters for Model A”$ that had floor vents ( but none of the three was actually installed on a car - pieces of one came with a station wagon project that is on my “to do” list). This type of system was attached over the muffler area and I believe also had...

    Current collector car insurance

I once had J.C. Taylor twenty years ago, but switched to Hagerty after J.C. Taylor would not cover property damages to a '69 Corvette that I had. I did not have a stated value on the car at the time. An unmarried 21-year old Mom with no insurance pulled out from a side street less than fifty...

Interior questions on 1923 Touring Car

Having started on this old gentleman something over fifty years ago, I've concluded that it is probably time to finish the restoration of our 1923 Touring Car while I still have at least a hope of one day finishing it. I've had quite a few Model A's over the years, but this is the only Model T...

    Upholstery 68C

My recollection is that the back seat cushion is attached to the seat frame which uses maybe something like the old leather (similar to that used in some of the open car top frames) to staple or tack those portions of the seat back upholstery in place on the sides - the top portion is tacked or...

    Cast Drums versus Steel Drums

One additional thought. If you should decide to use cast iron drums, I would also strongly recommend that you also convert to bonded brake shoe linings - otherwise the woven linings will soon glaze over and become ineffective. Good luck going forward.

    An Old Memory

I also have one of these posters tucked away somewhere as well. Those were truly enjoyable events for me, as it gave me some great one-on one times with my father and the opportunity to make some really great memories. We lived in Decatur, Georgia at the time. I also remember seeing the car...

31 mail truck rear fender question

As I referenced above, Mail Trucks have a unique body, each of which was made to fit onto either a 1/2 ton truck chassis (100 cu. ft which would have been the smaller of the two bodies made, and was essentially a standard passenger car chassis - therefore having rear passenger car fenders) or a...

31 mail truck rear fender question

My recollection is that the mounting bolts are drilled from the top rather than in accordance with traditional fender mountings found on the wheel wells of steel-bodied cars. We have a '29 Mail Truck but we stopped our restoration when we discovered that our truck has an overall height...

    DeLuxe pickup

This was probably a truck that the late R.T. McDaniel built back in the mid to late 1980’s. I seem to recall him having referred to it as a “Ute” and referencing that these would have most likely only been produced in Australia in an open cab format ...

Finishes on 1923 steering gear box and levers

Thanks GZ - I very much appreciate your kind and timely response. This is a car that I got during either the summer between my junior and senior year of high school, or between my senior year of high school and my first year of college (either way back in the late 1960's). All of the running...

Finishes on 1923 steering gear box and levers

Years ago I started on a restoration of a 1923 Touring. I'm finally getting to a point where I am ready to deal with the steering column and have a couple of "finish" questions. Are either the gear box (cover and/or base) and/or the spark and gas levers plated? Thanks in advance for any...

    1923 Touring

Hoping to find a few parts to finish our restoration: For 1923 Touring: Steering column Fender brackets (looking to put new Rootlieb fenders on, but will need the fender brackets for mounting). Any parts or even leads are most appreciated.
