    41 ford to 53 mwecury ******

Hi there I have a 1941 ford tudor sedan. Last year I changed out the engine to one I purchased out of a 53 mercury. Engine came with 3 speed overdrive bolted to it. I ended up using my flywheel ,clutch pressure plate as they were new with the 8BA previous owner put in. Thing runs great but I...

cool. Thanks guys. I think I just need a rebuild on my carb. Meanwhile I disconnected the secondaries. Will checkt it out later for performance. I have an old weiland 4 barrel intake. I think I spelled that wrong

    carburation

So my 1941 ford sedan has a newer 1951 mercury flathead in it. Has a chevy conversion dist. in it and am trying to run a holley 390 cfm. carb. I have read all the information about this carb set up and they either know how to adjust carb better than me or mine is just messed up. I am thinking...

    houdaille shocks

Would like to find all four arm shocks for 1941 ford tudor deluxe. If they work at all with no leaks that would be great. I do not want to get mine re built as that is very expensive.

    timing again

Sorry did not want to hijack other forum question about timing. 1951 Mercury engine replacement in my 1941 ford to replace the 8BA that was in it before. I am a little dyslexic so I am having trouble figuring something out. Got it running really well. Timing set by vacuum to best result. Motor...

    oops

Thanks guys. I will try it. I had an extra head laying around and re created the incident. The sensor as it were is so big it will not pass out of the head. So yeah I am going to run it. Hate doing so but I could not get it out anyway. Thanks again

    oops

So as I look more at the situation I dont think the part that fell in will hurt anything. It,s just in the water jacket. Whatta ya think?

    oops

Finally decided to save my 8BA rebuild for another day and just swap out the engine. Got a hold of a 1951 mercury that had been rebuilt fairly recently. Will try the overdrive swap that came with it another day also. Getting to the end of project. Been fun, Water pump bolts are kinda dumb idea...

    weland 903

Hi there. Does anybody happen to know what carburetor Mr. Weiland had in mind for his 903 four barrel intake manifold?

    overdrive 3 speed

Purchased a 1953 mercury engine. I do not want the overdrive. I am not a good enough mechanic to do the swap from my 8BA three speed. So I have available from flywheel to tip of transmission. I don,t think its feasible to ship but I can pallet it and take to shipper if you pay for it. Live in...

    piston size

Starting to believe you guys are right. Just gonna have to do it right. Kinda hate to put the money in a tudor sedan but it is fun to drive.

    piston size

So I know I am going to get in trouble but need to ask. In process of doing a re fresh on my 1951 8BA. I am finding more clearance than I want on piston size. Some pistons are smaller and have more wear than others. In fact one top ring had like an 1/8 inch gap. Crazy So my question is I believe...

    engine pull

Hey thanks fellows. I got lucky and the floor pan and carpet had been replaced by previous somebody. So I did remove The pan and I am sure it will be much, much easier. It just made too much sense especially with alignment when putting back. I am taking lots of notes believe me. The throwout...

    engine pull

I know this has been beat to death. I just have one question, well for now. 1941 ford sedan with 1951 8BA motor. Pulling engine to refresh it. Is there any reason I cannot unbolt transmission from bellhousing and pull engine? looks to me like the throw out bearing and clutch linkage stays with...

    flathead refresh

Finally getting to motor repair. Had a hard time with bonded title here in New Mexico. So far only pulled intake and one head. There is a ridge but not terrible. I believe it is a 51 8Ba as the valve turn easily just by hand. I will get it miked to check for taper and hopefully its not too much...
