I did end up taking the assembly off and removing the screw underneath. The lens slid forward with some effort. The gaskets are all brittle, but it all seams to be very well made. I'm sure its the original part (same on both sides). I think I'll replace the bad bulb with LED (on both sides)...
Is there a trick to getting the lens out without breaking it. I can't seem to wiggle the lens loose. I don't remember how its held in place These are original lenses so any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks Bryan Markell for the info. I am attaching two pictures. The first one is looking up and shows a small hole in the dash above the ignition switch. The second one is behind the dash and shows the light socket (and small hole that casts light on the ignition switch).
The wiring diagram for my '41 SuperD shows an "ignition switch lamp" and I have a bulb socket with the correct wire color dangling under my dash. Is there such a thing? I have searched and can't find an image of one, nor am I able to find any information. Any help would be appreciated.
OK - thanks for information. I managed to take off the face of my '41 gauge. Just like the temperature gauge, it has two adjustment locations. One for zero set and one for range. I think I can calibrate the sender to match reality. I can send pictures if someone is interested.
'41 passenger - 6V pos ground - I am having problems getting a working Oil Pressure Sending Unit. My last one, made in China, went bad. I ordered a new one from DC. Tested ohms when I got it. 11 ohms on the bench. Installed it. It registered about 10 psi with engine off and ignition on...
My machine guy says his dad (Machinist for Ford) told him about the ERP blocks. During the war, Ford would mass repair blocks by over boring because blocks were scarce. He thinks ERP stands for "Engine Repair Production". Sounds possible.
Still looking for front and center main bearings...
