If the carb is mounted backward for ease of hooking up the linkage, that may be your problem. ! had a similiar problem on my '35 pick-up. when I turned the carb back around (like Holly designed it to operate), the problem went away. Regards, Ron . . .

Hi Ron, Nice thoughts on a new block. While we are dreaming, I would like to see the oiling system modified for a full (or nearly) full oil filter, bosses for water drains, and adequate clearance for a least a 4 1/4 crank. What do you think about adding freeze plugs? Best Regards...
