1929 Model A Tudor For Sale

A good reliable driver with a nice Mohair interior. An older restoration which has been updated with new tires & tubes, new springs & shackles, Snyder 6:1 high compression head, Wagner 6V alternator, brighter lights all around, Bert's rebuilt carburetor & distributor, modern zerks, Otwell...

    Tire balancing

The main problem with the bubble balancer is that the A wheels aren't located on the hub by the center hole (which is what the balancer relies on). Instead, they are located by the lug nuts only! I modified the low cost balancer by using a brake drum for the top piece. A lathe-turned center...

    Whitewalls

I admire the look of fat whitewalls on Packards, LaSalles, Cords, & Duesenbergs, because that's how they came. However, Model A's never came from Henry that way, and with the skinnier tires, the whitewalls really look out of place. Love my black Lesters....

    Gonna drive every day

I'd suggest you find an Otwell Health Heater, which replaces the exhaust manifold. I'm very pleased with mine, especially since I live up near Lake Superior!

    Tail lights

The standard taillight bulb was only 3 cp. Our favorite vendors have 6 cp & 10 cp versions available.

    high Speed not so good

Just a long shot, but did you happen to put in a modern points plate in your distributor? When I did, my motor ran well lightly loaded, but was anemic when it tried to develop power....A new "old" plate fixed it right up.

So you think the fuse on the starter will protect you?

Re-Think Again.... Ok, let's continue this line of thinking. Say a short occurs anywhere after the fuse and the fuse blows. There was obviously a very short duration of high (>30 amp) current causing the fuse to blow, which it did. No damage done so far. Now the generator is trying to supply...

    Brake Rod Rattle

Are you running Houdaille shocks? I had a problem with the RF brake rod rattling against the Houdaille adjuster. If this is the case, you'll see marks in the paint where they hit.

Is there a "cure" for ingition noise overpowering a CB radio?

jmeckel has nailed this one. Pitch the CB's and use the fm family radios. No more having to mount a non-period radio and antenna, and no power leads to connect. The family radios are cheap, compact, and effective. BrianM (retired electrical engineer/ham radio operator for over 50 years)

    Water pump modification

I put on a new leakless ball bearing water pump when I installed my 6:1 head. The instructions clearly explain the need for grinding down the impeller blades. Basically, newer repro radiators have smaller diameter tubes than the original ones. As the system is not closed, the water piles up on...

    RE-VIST....Who makes the "Best" Tubes????

I installed a new set of Lester tires (all 5) & used Bratton's tubes. No failures, no leaks, no issues..... I don't even have to keep topping them up...very happy with them!

    Rear hub axle seal

Question: After hand greasing the rear wheel bearings, how deep is the new seal supposed to go? Should it only go in far enough so the retainer clip goes back in, or should it be pressed up against the bearing? As usual, the mechanic books don't explain.....

Here's Eastwood's special radiator paint: http://www.eastwood.com/ew-radiator-black-paint-gloss-aerosol-12-oz.html They also have it in satin finish as P/N: 10340Z Works fine on my radiator, but plan on a black trigger finger!

    painting radiator

Eastwood sells rattlecans of Radiator Black paints, both Gloss & Satin. I think the satin looks better on an A. $14.99 a can. Go lightly.
