    34 Cabriolet resurrection

I've been working on getting my Dad's 1934 Cabriolet running after sitting for 22 years and was just about to try and fire it up when checking the head nut torque a stud spun. So I've pulled the heads using a plate I made (if you're interested here's a video- https://youtu.be/1o2x-4o4MSs ) to...

    car wheel dollies

Reading through HF's reviews it seems they had some updates and the newer ones are said to work much better with less flexing etc than the old. That being said I only have used 4 new ones purchased in July 2016. The first time I used them when letting the car down upon contact they shot out and...

    34 Spun head stud

The nut spins easily on the stud and with light torque the stud pulls out of the block so it sure seems like the threads are bad. I've drained the block and will proceed with removing the head. At my business we've rented magnetic drill presses in the past and I'll talk to my guys about that...

    34 Spun head stud

Thanks Ralph I figured I'm looking at a heli coil. There was about 3/16" thread showing above the nut I wonder if there's any chance epoxying it back in would work. The other studs torqued ok hopefully they'll hold. My lucks not going well I think I'll search for a qualified shop to put the heli...

    34 Spun head stud

Trying to get the 34 Cabriolet that's sat for 15 years or so back to life I had a head stud spin while checking the torque today. I've tightened studs many times and recently checked the heads on 2 Model A's and 2 other Flatheads with no issues at all using a Van pelt sequence chart. At what...

1930 Coupe squealing when clutch depressed after new everything

As a follow up the Transmission shop says they had to grind one or some of the adjuster screws down on the pressure plate through the inspection opening which was rubbing and making the squeal. Took her out for a nice 30 mile or so drive on Saturday and the clutch is easier to depress and the...

push started 36 and lost 2nd gear!

jimTN when you push the shifter into where 2nd should be there is very little if any resistance just a tiny click that's about it. Thanks all others for the info and comments particularly Mac VP. Wanted to mention that when you call Max Navarro's number it gives a 'no incoming calls accepted'...

push started 36 and lost 2nd gear!

Bob I'm overflowing with basic skills after a lifetime of messing around with cars , boats, motorcycles etc. but a transmission man I'm not. However if there's something in there that may have broke and I stand a chance of fixing it without removing the trans ,rear-end etc than I will definitely...
