    Protectant for 1930 phaeton roof

Looking for a product to put on my soft top roof to protect against UV and maybe assist with water proofing. The catch is that my roof is grey (or salt and pepper) and I do not want to risk using anything which may affect the color.

    NZ air cleaner option

Just wondering if anyone has experience running the air cleaner made in New Zealand. After listening to the arguments for and against I am leaning towards putting one on. Link is here: http://www.earlyfordparts.co.nz/PDF%20and%20Word%20Advertising%20Files/MK%202%20Air%20Cleaner%2017-02-10.pdf

Found my vacuum leak! There is a small leak in the plug for the idle mixture adjustment hidden passage. previous owner had drilled it out and installed a new brass plug but it isn't air tight. What is the best way to fix this?

    backfire/stalling

I have eliminated an exhaust leak as the backfire cause. I also reset the timing and checked the carby. When adjusting the idle mixture I could wind it all the way in without affecting the idle. The backfire developed again after about 10 minutes and it also stalled after revving the motor...

    backfire/stalling

I have a similar problem. I tried another carby but same issue. My backfire develops after about 10-15 minutes of driving. Prior to that it just tends to die when coming to a stop.

    Timing Question

Probably a bit of both. One rod is an after market adjustable one and has some slop. I have ordered a new set of rods and will see how that goes. If the balls are worn what is the best way to fix them? Greg

    Timing Question

I attempted to do the timing on my 1930 tourer today according to the Les Andrews method. After numerous attempts I could not get the points indicator light to come on until about 5 stops down on the spark advance lever. I observed that when the spark advance is moved nothing happens at the...

    Temperature gauge thoughts

There also seems to be a difference in opinion around my parts as to whether you should install one. As mine is more a driver than a show car I think it maybe a wise addition.

    Temperature gauge thoughts

I am looking at installing a temperature gauge on my 1930 Phaeton and am after some thoughts on the two temperature pipes being offered. One is painted steel and one is stainless steel. Many seem to opt for the black painted one. Is there any drawback in going for the stainless steel one...
