I figured I would be pulling the axle to change the seals. The wheel bearing does not come off, I can spin it but not pull it off. Should it slid off the inner race?
I pulled the rear drum off and the bearing, brakes and drum are full of oil not grease. Is this the seal in the axle housing that is leaking? I also think the bearing pulled apart a little because the drum does not go all the way on now.
My pickup with a B engine has an oil filter that is using oil from the hole in the block by the oil pump shaft. Is it ok to use this for the filter or is it starving the engine?
Its a 30 truck with a B engine. Its my moms, its been setting for 15 yrs. It runs ok just had that oil leak. Something was forced out of the piston under the wrist pin. There was some metal in the pan I think is babbit, its not magnetic.
I have a leak at the rear main. I think its leaking from the top of the rear main bolt. Can I get a steady drip from this? It doesn't look like the rear main seal is leaking, oil is running down from the left side of the engine above the bearing. I also found something on the bottom of one...
What is a good sealer to coat the inside of the fuel tank. I am almost ready to coat mine. There are numerous sealers and how much is needed to seal the fuel tank?
Thanks for all the info. I will try some carb cleaner, MEK didn't do much to it. Worst case I will just send it off to get cleaned. On the west coast we don't have much of a choice on whats in the gas. Are tanks available that are in good shape and how much would they go for?
I have a 1930 Model A truck that has old sealer in the gas tank that is turning to a tar like substance when gas is in it. Is there anyway to clean this without cutting it open? Any place in the San Diego area that does repair to the tanks? Thanks.
