    Putting car together

Dave, quite a detailed plan. Unfortunately my rebuild is a frame on resto. There are some things that'll transfer over. Thanks

    Getting into locked glovebox

There are no screws showing on the bottom of the glovebox door so that idea is out. There's no trunk lock to get a key made from. Door key won't work. I tried. I think all I can do is go thru the back and try tripping the latch. Any advice how to do that?

    Thermostat and housing

Yeah, I'm thinking I have to go to an old nos thermostat and avoid the size issue. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the old remnants of the original thermostat outta the housing. It seems to be glued in or something. Guess good old cranking on it with screwdriver and hammer. Just don't...

    Getting into locked glovebox

The locksmith said the glovebox and trunk are the same, different from the doors. If the hinge screws are undone, will the lock keep it from opening?

    Getting into locked glovebox

My 54 Lincoln came with no keys and the glovebox is locked. I took a door lock to a locksmith and got keys made for doors and ignition but glovebox is different. How can I get into it? Can imagine some interesting things in there after sitting for 57 years

Does anyone know if the hood hinges from a 54 Ford will fit on a 54 Lincoln Capri?

    Thermostat and housing

I'm installing a new thermostat on my 54 Lincoln Capri and there's some stuff in the housing that I don't know is supposed to be removed or not. Plus the new thermostat I got at Napa, which is guaranteed to fit, is too small. It'll drop into the intake manifold. So I need to know what I need to...

    Putting car together

I know, vague subject. Basically, I am rebuilding a 54 Lincoln Capri. The engine is almost all together. The ****** is at the shop getting torn down finding out what it may need to rebuild. The car needs paint,(we're changing the color). It needs an interior, of course it depends on the color...

    Distributor install issues lyb

Everything is good. Distributor went in all the way, oil pump is attached with the op shaft, timing should be right. Have the intake manifold at the shop getting sand blasted, ready to paint. Then all there is is to pick a carb for her. I'm thinking about a 450 cfm Holly. ****** still at the...

    Distributor install issues lyb

I do have the later oil pump with hex drive. Everything fits together it's just the intermediate shaft is a little bit too long. I'm asking what's the best way to cut it so it won't heat up too much. Also, where is the sliding washer on the shaft supposed to go?

    Distributor install issues lyb

I have changed them all out and have the hex drive shaft. It's too long and I was looking for advice on which end is better to cut off and technique. Where's that sliding washer supposed to be located?

It's the shaft under the distributor shaft and goes into the oil pump

    Distributor install issues lyb

I found the intermediate shaft is a little bit too long. There's no problem cutting a half inch off the bottom of it is there?

    Distributor install issues lyb

Yes, the load I matic dist was very difficult removing. I took it out and my mechanic did not have a distributor to install. I found the 60 fyb distributor and swapped gears. The bottom of the shaft was a little mushroomed that's why another shop swapped gears. The gears are the same diameter...
