    Replacement for Teflon tape

Thanks for all your replies. Because the valve has a "pipe" thread I was concerned with any leakage. Now that I have a SW to my garage I'm able to smell more odors, the roadster is a little "airy". Thanks again

    Replacement for Teflon tape

Due to the Ethanol problem I read somewhere that E-10 eats the Teflon tape used in sealing the gas shut off valve into the gas tank. I have hunted high and low and can't come up with it. Does anyone remember what it was? I tried Advanced Auto today with no luck. Thanks

Hi Bruce, my patches arrived yesterday and they look great. Thanks for taking on this project.

    High compression head

Thank you all for your comments and Gar thanks for taking the time to send the two photos. Mine is smooth so it's "likely" that it is a Snyder. I just received the engine and it was "specked" out to have a Snyder HC head. It sure has more "guts" than my old one. Thanks again.

    High compression head

Is there any way to externally distinguish a Snyder HC head from a stock head? Thanks

Tall man problems in coupe; bend shift lever?

If you decide to heat and bend it make sure you have a "solid" shifter. The newer ones are two piece and you could disturb the contact point at the bottom (I did!) Results are a shifter that is free floating, which is a lot of fun! :)

    S/W seat modification

Thanks for all the comments. I forgot about moving the adjuster back. Had to do that on a Victoria that I had and it made the difference. I'm looking forward to a little warmth in the winter and no water coming in during the summer rains. Thanks again.

    S/W seat modification

I am 6 Ft 3 and am looking at a SW Town Sedan. The amount of leg room in the front seat could be a little more. I have heard about tieing the front seat springs back a little to gain more room. Any ideas or recomendations? Thanks

    Ferrule Space

Hi Marc, according to Paul Moller in his book on Model A carburetors, page 29, it should be no more than 1/8" beyond. Excess can block flow. He goes on to say that the easiest way to do this is to get a 1/2-20 bolt about 1 inch long and screw it into the hole where the filter screen in the carb...

    Bending shifter lever

I just got off the phone with Steve at Mitchell and he is going to send me a new tower and I will return the one with the "spinning" gear shift. He said that the repo shifter is a two piece that is threaded and welded. I guess I hit the right/wrong spot when I heated the shifter to relocate...

    Bending shifter lever

Thanks Arlyn, that explains my problem. Thanks to everyone that commented on my situation.

    Bending shifter lever

Hi Marco, the "seperation" on the shifter is about 1 1/2 inches above the spherical cover. The shifter rod below the seperation only moves only when you are shifting and if I'm careful the top portion will follow. Once I am in gear I can rotate to "upper" section counterclockwise and back...

    Bending shifter lever

Hi Bob, there is actually a seperation (crack) at the bottom of the rod where it comes out of the transmission. When I turn the shifter to the right, only the "upper" part of the shifter turns. I pull up on it and it doesn't pull up (thank goodness). :(

    Bending shifter lever

I"m 6 ft 3 and have always had problems with the shifter lever getting in the way of the pedals when shifting into first. In the past I have just heated the lower part of the shifter and bent it to the right about 6 inches at the top. This time when I did this, on a new transmission, after 900...
