1930 CCPU Horn Rod Replacement Question

Scott, I used Les Andrews instructions and it was involved, but successful. I have a good horn rod (45 3/4") that you can have if you'll pay the shipping. Doug

    Help Identify This Horn

I have a '29 ccpu with an odd-looking horn. Is this a standard Model A horn or something out of a previous owner's parts bin? It works and sounds like a bull bellowing rather than a sharp high tone. Any ideas as to the origin? No markings on the case at all.

    A Good Wife

My wife and I are both retired. We met when I was only 15 and was in the process of rebuilding a '47 Mercury coupe. She must have had faith in my work because we dated for quite a while in that car. Now, 55 years later, she is still the love of my life and my cheerleader as I tackle the...

    Spare Tire Bolt Removal

The bolt in question had been subjected to many miles of vibration with no lug nut on it. Not enough metal left to rethread it properly. JW had the right idea, at least for my case. Putting a socket over the head of the bolt and giving a healthy smack or two popped it right out. The new...

    Spare Tire Bolt Removal

Got the bolt from Snyder's. Now, how to I get the old bolt out? Tried hitting with 3 # hammer, but no luck. Heated the plate to expand the square hole, but no success. Now, I'm trying to drill the old bolt out. At this rate, I may just have to break down and buy a complete plate with bolts...

    Spare Tire Bolt Removal

Got a side-mount spare on my 29 CCPU. One of the bolts that holds the spare has threads that are worn to the point that a lug nut will not hold securely. The bolt has a square section where it passes through the plate. Can't tell if it is swedged or not, but tapping on it did not seem to...

    Rim Flaps for Model A?

I checked the tube that was removed from the flat tire. The only abrasion area was right around the rubber valve stem. The tube was stamped "Made in the USA", and looked in good shape other than the chafed valve stem. When replacing the other tires, I plan on reusing the tubes if they don't...

    Rim Flaps for Model A?

Dry rot forces me to buy new tires for my 29 CCPU. One tire has been removed from the rim and have found pitted rims but no rim liner or rim flap. The inside of the rim has been coated with some material that has made the pitted area very smooth. Looks like either a glossy undercoating material...

    Nu-Rex Generator Cutout

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD. Unused Nu-Rex Semi-Conductor Generator Cutout replaces the original relay type. Previous owner said generator worked fine, but needed a cutout. HE LIED! Generator is "fried" - no output. Replaced generator with an alternator. Cutout is identical to original exterior...

    Removing Window from 29 CCPU

Thanks for the good information on removing the trim. Soaked the back of the trim with a lot of WD40 and waited about an hour. Tapping with a block on both sides got it moving. Carefully tapping got the trim off with no damage to the trim! Thanks! Now, looking at the way the window...

    Trickle Charger/Batt. maintainer

I have a charger that will handle 6v or 12v and have used it with no problems. I don't leave mine hooked up 24/7 because we have power fluctuations and some outages. The problem is that my charger defaults to 12v after a power outage and that would "cook" a 6v battery. Bottom line- test...

    Removing Window from 29 CCPU

Glass in both doors of my 29 CC pickup do not crank easily because track inserts are "chewed up". I want to replace the track inserts, but it hasn't been easy to remove the glass from the track. Removed the screws from the upper trim and garnish molding. The garnish molding came off easily...

    What Is It?

Found this laying in the bottom of my 1929 Ford CCPU transmission after I removed it yesterday. Anybody have a clue what it is? It's a little over 2" long and 3/4" wide with a riveted post that is about 3/4" tall.

    Transmission Removal 1929 CCPU

Removing the U-J was the way to go! Got the trans out without too much trouble. Didn't need to mess with the brake cross-shaft. Thanks for all the great advice. Now, I've got to get busy and clean 80 years of grease out of the bell housing. Oh, joy!
