    No power to the distributor

    Ignition key OFF! With a multimeter or test light check for a ground (with points closed). Using wireing diagram, Starting with points and working back to firewall terminal block. Check ammeter and ignition switch connections for ground. Good hunting!

    There should be BATTERY on the PASSENGER SIDE of the TERMINAL Box !at All times!

    Occasional NO WIGGLE on ammeter sounds like a LOOSE WIRE in the circuit! I agree with post to check ALL CONNECTING WIRES in circuit!

    Place a jumper wire across the ammeter terminals to bypass a defective amp gauge!

    Does your ammeter wiggle when you try to start the car? If it does I would then see if you get a spark from the coil wire to a head bolt!

    Flywheel probably has grease or oil on it. Flywheel needs to be cleaned!
