    Recommendations for an ignition switch

There also are the replacement armored switches without the pop-out feature supplied through Ford and aftermarket sources for many years. I have three of those, of which I got one actually to work, though not without difficulties. They do have some touchy grounding issues, which I think were...

    Radiator flush

Once upon a time, people used kerosene to flush cooling systems. I was actually involve with such an operation long ago. It did work great, but I would not recommend it today. There are many good, and safer, alternatives.

    Old Garfield tires

My Garfield tires were installed in 1999. They still look great and I have had no problems with them. I did use the best innertubes and rim strips available at the time (a habit carried over from motorcycles). I have never experienced an actual blowout on my Model As but did have a wheel fall...

    Light switch sticks

If you are having trouble with the light switch turning too hard, don’t forget to look at the bail that holds the switch housing together. I installed an NOS Ford switch and harness but the existing bail was much too hard to snap into place and the control on the steering wheel turned too hard...

    Armored ignition switches

Yeah, I don’t know either. For now, I rigged something holding the cable end and conduit inline but apart, and everything works. Eventually, I might rebuild another switch assembly and see if I learn anything new from that. Thanks.

    Armored ignition switches

I have a question about armored ignition switches. My generic switch (no armor) broke, but I had three armored switches among my spare parts. Each is the common replacement version, like the 1931 Electrolock but without the pop-out feature. I checked their continuity and all tested fine...

    IGNITION TROUBLES! I'm stumped.

You mean the ammeter is showing full discharge even without starting the engine? So the alternator isn't even turning? That sounds like a short inside the alternator. I have bought rebuilt alternators that had shorts right out of the box; it's not really uncommon.

    Newb... So many questions....

All the previous advice is good, but I would urge you to pull the brake drum and look inside. Something loose, like a spring or nut, could be interfering with brake operation. I once had a brake lining come loose at one end, which would lock the brake seemingly at random and then just as...

    Carburetor Problems

I agree with Tom Endy, above. What you describe sounds like gradual flooding. Does it drip gasoline for a while after acting up? Fuel starvation results in similar symptoms, except for the popping you mentioned. Either way, a stuck float could be the cause. ... By the way, you have a Tillotson...
