    Alignment issue 31

Re: Aligenmet issue 31 I had the same problem with one tire wearing extremely fast. It also pulled to one side. It turned out to be a bent tie rod due to hitting an extremely large pothole. I replaced the tie rod, lined everything back up which solved the problem.

    Beneath the mohair . . . . .

When I installed my vases I used a small finishing nail to create the pilot hole. Tapping a litle at a time while twisting so that the nail was easily removed. Drilling can cause the drill to grab the fabric and damage it.

    Leakless water pump.

Today I helped a club member replace the fan hub on his leakless water pump. After I installed the new fan hub, I noticed the brass "packing" nut was completely loose. How tight should it be, or can it be overtighten. Since it is a leakles pump I assume that is has a different sealing system...

    Tira wear

Also check the tie rod to see if it might be bent. I hit a pothole soo hard one time it actually bent the tie rod. Didn't notice it untill I saw the tire wear.

    Timing gear cover

Someone before me drilled and tapped the center of the cover and used a screw to keep the aluminum gear from knocking. It worked fine untill the thread stripped. One of the club members had a cover, so picked it up and I replaced the plunger spring and all is good. Thanks everyone for the replies.

    Timing gear cover

I have to repair the timing gear cover on my 1930 Tudor (plugging a hole). Is the metal cast iron or forged steel? This will help me to decide if I should TIG weld it or braze it.
