Model A Engine and Dual Carbs

That's what I was thinking too, a progressive seems like the better of both worlds, as long as the manifold design doesn't affect it

Model A Engine and Dual Carbs

Right now it is stock but have a mess of incremental upgrades planned, such as better gearing and engine upgrades. Goal is to have it run a consistent 50 to 60 mph, so I can drive on highways without concern. Not freeways or anything that fast, but there's a lot of 55 MPH roads around me I need...

Model A Engine and Dual Carbs

Hi All, I've searched the archives but never really found what I was looking for. I've asked on the HAMB, but I've always had great experience here on the Barn, so I thought it might help as well... I have a stock Model A engine and a Burns twin carb intake. I've heard Stromberg 81's are the...

Model A Wheel to 17" Wire Wheel Swap Question

Tom - two rods running to the back hubs. Ken's info was great, confirmed I've got A wheels. Would that mean that a set of 16's are bolt-on possibilities? Thanks!

Model A Wheel to 17" Wire Wheel Swap Question

Great call - measured the section you've indicated with the arrows, and I have 1-3/8" in the same section. This would indicate the hubs are not AR, and I'd be fine with running 16" or 17" ford wheels, is that right?

Model A Wheel to 17" Wire Wheel Swap Question

Will do - the parking brake is on thr right, but I believe it's in a different place than sat the '30/'31S? What should I be looking for at the wheels to verifywhether the hub is AR or not?

Model A Wheel to 17" Wire Wheel Swap Question

Hi All, Question - I had heard that 16" and 17" Ford wire wheels would fit a Model A. As I was scouring for information, I read something about "AR" Model A's not being able to because of their hubs. I have a '28 roadster with the "AR" items like the red steering wheel and the emergency brake...

Help Needed - No Power at Load

Pulled the carburetor spacer off last night and plugged the fitting at the PCV Valve. Took it for a spin and it drove nicer than it had previously. Still had a fueling issue, I realized if I punched it hard it would choke and backfire. During this time if I pressed the throttle again it had no...

I am going to give it a shot tonight and remove that spacer piece completely

Help Needed - No Power at Load

Hi Tom, I will definitely take a look at the tank. When I switched the filter, I monitored how fast the bowl filled up and it looked fast. No idea post bowl, though, but I'll take a look there and the tank too. I'm thinking about pulling the spacer plate off to isolate all that...

Help Needed - No Power at Load

The fact it falls flat on acceleration and backfires through the carb smells like it's lean...

Help Needed - No Power at Load

Starting to think it could definitely be some gunk in the fuel line, is there a good baseline for time and quantity at the fuel line? Like Tom said, it makes sense it could be a fault

Help Needed - No Power at Load

I haven't. I replaced the fuel filter under that same notion, but haven't checked flow out of the fuel line. Is there a specification for that? Tonight I'm bringing my meter home, I can scope the primary pattern and see how the condensor is fairing. Also will check timing, point gap, and...

Help Needed - No Power at Load

You know, the more I think of it, the idle was intermittently missing yesterday. Something like "PUTT PUTT PUTT PUTT PUTT PUTT _____ PUTT" Could one of the secondary straps be going out?
