I have a 351W and I've taken the valve covers off several times. It is an easy job really. Just remember the bolts are 8"lbs torque and let the RTV sit for 24hrs before you start the engine up again. You can buy the gaskets from NAPA, O'Reilly's, or Autozone for cheap since the engine was made...
I suppose it really is dependent on how much is rusted out when it comes to the floors, fenders, and quarters. I don't think there is more than $800 in value from what is there. Really its just an opinion but there really doesn't look like much to work with.
Call me stupid or just a novice, but what do you mean by reaming out the spindle? I'm a visual learner so if you have pictures of this it would help me out. Actually if you have pictures of the entire set up and how it all goes together, that would be awesome too.
I know its different but, I just completed my a full rebuild on the entire steering in my 54. I was able to disconnect and tear down the box myself. The only time that I was really on my back was when I had to take the pitman arm off my box. I know that a 54 box is strikingly different from the...
I pulled the 1984 351W out of my 54 Customline last week and now I"m contemplating if I should just clean the grease off the engine and slap her back in or do a rebuild. When it comes to a rebuild, I don't know my a** from a hole in the ground. Pretty much I will be learning as I go just as I...
Thanks Paul for taking the time to measure it out for me. Thanks Bob for the shop information. I may have found a shop close but if they don't work out then I will call Advantage. You guys are awesome and thanks again for the help.
Gerry can I get the info for that shop? I would love to get this thing made and in the car by Thanksgiving. Anyone else that can help out with a good local shop would be greatly appreciated.
I was talking with griffin radiators and they don't know. I was going to get them to build one but I they don't know the size or what they look like and someone told me that they have had problems with two Griffin radiators. I've been told by two other people that Griffin radiators are not that...
What are the dimensions of the core of the original radiator in the '54 Customline? I am trying to replace my blown out radiator with a replica of an original so it is direct fit but I don't know what size the original was, can anyone help?
ok here are a few places if you want a radiator that is a reproduction of the original; Larry's Ford at www.larrystbird.com - part # P8005A $389.00, C&G Early Ford Parts at www.cgfordparts.com - part # B6C-8005-A $515.00. The last one is specifically for the '54 truck. Both places are in...
I've got the inch and foot lbs torque wrenches but we didn't even get a chance to use them since we were hand threading them in when this bolt hole was found to be stripped.
