The cylinder head replacement story begins…

Re: The cylinder head replacement story begins… A method I have found useful, after heating the stud red, I turn the engine upside down. It helps to get the heat into the threaded part of the stud in the block, the heat wants to make its way up. Naturally not easy if the engine is in the car...

Has worked for me for many years, but haven't visited the site in the last year. It is an incredible source of information. Hope someone knows something about...

Main and Rod Shim Sequence ???

Another question for Herm, if apologies in this thread! If I understand it correctly, one of the reasons the peening babbits is to allow the babbitt to have full contact with the engine block. Is also the reason to compress the babbit to achieve a higher density. If so, how deep does peening...

    Impossible ... Stuck head

Always interesting answers and comments from you. I saved some scrap, to refresh my memory I looked over it again. It turns out that it was not sleeves in all 14. So I do not know the number or location of them. The sleeves thickness is around 0.040 "and the OD around 9/16". If they used a core...

    Impossible ... Stuck head

I think there are different degrees say 1-10 of how hard a cylinder head is stuck. In this case, I think I reached # 10. Model B marine converted engine. Penetrating oil and head puller in full tension for 2 months! Nothing happened, so ....... Never realized that steel sleeves are embedded in...

A engine fitted with B fuel pump bracket ?.......

The owner is a friend so I only have the picture. What I can see in the picture is not cast together with the block, so not part of the block. If you zoom the image, it appears that the "pad" is attached with 4 screws. The cylinder head is from a B engine. Jorgen
