A Very Nice '40 SOLD today on Hemmings - $27,536.00

Boy!! We have all heard: "You're better off buying a finished one rather than doing a complete rebuild yourself." I guess my ears don't hear it and my brain doesn't get it. I started a "complete" a few years ago and am still far from the finish line. Seeing this beauty, makes me think of...

    1940 windshield garnish install

Kube and others, How do the two beads expedite installation and when installed, do BOTH beads show or does the inner most one tuck under the garnish and the outer one show?

    1940 Ford glove compartment lid

You might be able to gently squeeze the ends of the clip together thus opening the center locking portion (hole) which will enable clip removal without stressing the tabs. This has worked for me.

    Scammer warning

Along a similar path: I'm so tired of getting RoBo calls on my home phone every day; anywhere from 4 to 8 consistently. I let them go to "voice" and delete daily. I know, It's not a big deal but I feel there are scammers lurking and being cautious is the order of the day. BTW: I have tried...

    Headliners

Spend an eternity on research. There is a ton of information accessible on this and other forums. In addition to what's already been posted, I found using a clothes/fabric steamer was invaluable when attempting to smooth out wrinkles. Follow carefully the order of steps necessary to take...

    40 oil pan install

Thanks everyone. I did get around to doing a "dry" run and it looks like the front seal will compress enough and allow the pan to sit correctly. Being that I'm working from under the engine, actually laying along each side, while it"s hanging from the cherry picker, I am going to set the gaskets...

    40 oil pan install

I’ve seen it explained both ways and am thinking either will work. My original concern about the seal being too thick still stands. I have pushed it in as far as it will go and have about a quarter inch sticking out on each end. After trimming it almost flush, I’m going to dry fit it and see if...

    40 oil pan install

Am getting ready to install my oil pan, engine out of car on cherry picker, and am not certain the front “Rope” seal that came with the gasket set will work or that it is the correct one. As I see it, it seems too thick and after inserting it in the groove it rides too high and will not compress...

    40 business coupe headliner

Thanks for the input. No confusion about the car itself. It is a business coupe. Was all original when I bought it about 4 years ago. Your advice about making certain the supplier knows the difference is spot on. That’s the reason for my post and concern. I’ll make sure whomever I deal with...
