    Sidemount irons - 1930 Coupe

Checked the wheel carrier flanges. Both look the same. Kooks like the one on the right is an original with the boss in the center from the passenger's side, and the one on the left is a copy cut from flat steel. What should be the difference between right and left? Slot in opposite slant?

    Sidemount irons - 1930 Coupe

How do I tell the difference between right and left irons for the front fender sidemounts. Photo shows iron on left (from drivers side) and iron on right (passenger side) look the same. Mounted on the car the drivers side measured 1/2" shorter in height from the bottom of the wheel well. Thus...

    Rear spring shackle installation

Success. Just took me a bit of perseverance in tight quarters. I couldn't use Mr Benson's method. I tried but the bottom lip on the spreader bar is lower than the spring end, so it dug into the wood and wouldn't slide. I can see how the spring end sliding on the wood can work well. Thank...

    Rear spring shackle installation

Thanks JayJay. I will do as you recommend. I was just getting a little nervous about the tension. Doing it equal in both sides. I took out the shackle that was half way in to free the rear end up to move. Maybe the solution is to install both sides at the same time. The books say do the...

Do you mean to unbolt the universal so it can move more freely?

    Rear spring shackle installation

I am using the spreader that goes the length of the spring. I guess I am just getting a bit nervous because of the tension and that the rear end is cocked a little. Photo is of the passengers side where I was able to get the shackle in almost all the way

    Rear spring shackle installation

Gentlemen: I am having trouble lining up the spring and perch to insert the rear shackles. I have the passengers side (right side) almost in but the rear end seems to be cocked at an angle. Photo shows how drivers side isn't lined up and the distance the spring still has to go. It looks...

Rear backing plate order of assembly

Thanks JayJay. This was the key element that I needed "Add backing plates using the two rear (short) bolts, loosely tightened" to know first step. Thanks very much for your thoughtful response. Don

Rear backing plate order of assembly

Gents Please advise the best order of assembly. I had rear brakes/backing plates rebuilt by Randy Gross - great job and amazingly fast turnaround! Thanks Randy. So now I have the rear radius rods off, the brake backing plate assembly off, and the rear spring shackles off. I had broken and...
