Thanks hydropower! NO kit. Another V8 club member with a 40 deluxe and I combined our talents. He is a wood artist and between us, we had a complete set of nice patterns. Tom cut out wood for both cars, I did the mechanical/body/paint/varnish work on both cars. We made all the wood, the plywood we started out with aircraft grade maple and veneered it up to the proper thickness which allowed me to choose quilted maple for the outer ply on mine. Every piece of wood in both cars is new. His is Lyon Blue, mine is Acadia Green proper 40 colors. The weird finger joint cutter cost us $750 to have made at Seattle Tool. About $7500 in raw maple in each car. I wouldn't embark on another woodie project, it is a LOT of work!
My car is bone stock and I will be taking it to the Western National Meet in LA this September to be judged. It is mostly correct, I used lots of NOS parts. The quilted maple will lose me points but when I started the project I had no intention of getting it judged so I expect it.
