Hi there,Iv never seen one of these here in New Zealand,is it a rarity in the states, and do you know anything much of its history,I think it's a beauty, regards pat.

Hello Pat
Yes we do know most of the history but unfortunately it is not documented other than "as told". We have known of the car for over 45 years. Yes, it is "RARE" as rare is often over used. It is a German coach built body by Deutsch, not factory made. It is one of about 8 (or so) German coach built 32 Fords and this particular body style is 1 of 1 or the only one of the 8 like it. The car has been in the States since about 1964. The original owner (here in the states) knew the history of the car but unfortunately only told the story and never wrote anything down. In 1938 the car was taken from Germany to Austria and walled up in the basement of a house to avoid the 1938 Nazi confiscation act for war purposes. It was located some time in late 46 or early 47 and shipped to England were it remained in the ownership of a University Professor till 1964. It was bought by a antique car dealer here in the states and shipped over in 1964. A very wealthy couple here in the states owned it from 1964ish till 1999 when a good friend of ours inherited the car. He kept the car till 2003 when the opportunity arose to buy it. We did. As the stroy was told to us back in the late 60's when we first saw the car, it belonged to a Gauliter in Germany. He was the one who took the car out of Germany in 1938. It is/was a parade car and is equipped with flag staffs and a Bosch Siren. We have all the original owners manual and tool kit. It was a very complete and very original car. As you can see by my other pictures the wheels in the particular picture you chose are just for rolling the car around till the restoration is complete. Thanks for the inquiry and for looking.

Robert
