All of the hydrolic brake assemblys I have seen have always mounted the wheel on the top side of the backing plate, is this now new school workmanship or is the picture up side down
Hi, thanks for interesting comment!
Well, the picture is right. And the wheel cylinder is down at the bottom of the backing plate. I'm just trying to restore this car the way it was modified long time ago, it's not been on the road for many many years. The reason for this thing is very simple, if you put '39-'48 backing plates to your model A, you will have to modify them because they will interfere with the leaf spring package fastening device on top of the axle housing. Unless you turn'em up side down, then everything is just a bolt on.. I have also read somewhere, probably on the H.A.M.B, as a comment to somebody doing a lot of work modifying his backing plates, that an earlier Hot Rod Magazine once had an article about a car built this way, just do it simple and turn the backing plate up side down. So, I guess no new school workmanship, it was described in Hot Rod Magazine many years ago! But I find it very interesting to see this was done on my car, over here, far a way from Hot Rod country...
