Quonset hut heat source update...

Well guys, I got voted out (I wanted to go for the used oil burner)...the family wants to put in propane heat source in our newly insulated 1947 quonset hut shop.

Thanks for all the suggestions in a previous post about this. It was very interesting.

One thing about it...the new light scource will be great!

Hello Steve , Like some post stated.Lots of fan curculation is important with heat system. That is what I have in my garage and it stays at 50 degrees in the winter with good insulation. My garage is 35'x30' . That temp stays at 50with heat off.

The quonset huts I lived in at Camp Pendelton had gas heaters in the center of the room. We took our broke down gun pieces into the shower to wash them them laid the pieces on the heater to dry. :D

Nothing against Gas Heaters Guy's, But ------ How explosionproof are they : meaning : cleaning or spraying with stuf that evaporates and could generate some explosive evaporated mixture ??? Have seen a shop in to the air ( owner dead )

I was there in 66 and I thought that they were oil. Not really sure though.

Have a LP heater in my shop, It has a blower built in that comes on at certain air temp. Has worked great in 22x30 Ft shop, never had a issue with warming it up in less than 30 minutes or so. My parts cleaner is on other side of shop, and I paint near the door (usually open it a little when painting) but never had an issue. Guess that when I do it will be too late.

Enjoy your shop, KNOW that you will more during Dec- Feb.
