Are all fenders the same??

Are all fenders the same given a model year? For example will 1930 coupe rear fenders fit a 1930 Sedan? Or are coupe rear fenders specific to a select few models? 1930 Front fenders are the same for all Models, correct?

I'm looking at a couple of fenders for my Town Sedan and need to now what fits. Thanks

Thanks Brent. Are the front fenders the same for all models (no spare tire well)? How about running boards?

Front fenders are the same throughout 30-31 except the first few 30s which were "eyebrow" fenders. On the eyebrow fenders, the edge bead came around the front and met the crease. After not too many units they decided to flatten this front bead out to save manufacturing costs. There was also a difference in the length of the crease at some point. All the fenders will fit on any body style as well as the running boards. The cars all have ribbed mats with aluminum moldings, the trucks have diamond plate steel.

Well, doing research at the archives several years ago I found like 7 different front fenders for 28/29, and like 5 different for 30/31 including service replacement. Just like Dave said, the "eyebrow" fenders were designated for use on the Town Sedan. Also remember that in late 1930, the fender and apron was changed to a one-piece body apron design. This affected the style of running board also.

I have eyebrow fenders on my 1930 coupe. I thought they were original. Is it true that the eyebrow fenders were only made for the Town Sedans?

There are a couple of variations on the 31 fenders. I stumbled into this by accident when I was trying to figure out how to fix the 'crease' that runs front to rear.
Found some fenders had a longer crease and more rounding as you get to the running board. I was told there is a known original car that has one of each so they may have been mixed on the line.

I recently saw a '30 5 Window Coupe, with '29 fenders, running boards, & splash shields! Don't know if alterations were necessary to fit this stuff???

Terry, why I said that is on each print it often lists the bodystyle an item is used on. If I recall correctly, it was listed as for the Fordor Sedans however if this was the case, I suspect some also saw installation on other bodystyles. In the Stds, I believe it just lists it as some bodystyles could have the early fenders but they were discontinued in 2/1930.

Kevin, It sounds much like worn dies being the cause of shorter crease, When everything is new and sharp you'll always have better formation, also the pressure settings on the press may account for some of the differences. The Ford fenders were to complex a shape to form in only one operation.

I'm sorry Dave, I can't post photos (wish I could) But an "Eyebrow" fender has the bead continiuos around the front of the fender from the side. The "Normal" fender has the bead smoothing out as it reaches the front of the fender

Could someone post a photo of two comparing the eyebrow fenders vs other front fenders on a 1930 car?

heres one
its too hot to take it down and outside to photograph it
but you can see where the bead runs around the front of the fender

I know a guy that had 1 eyebrow fender on his car & didn't know it! Someone had BONDO'd it, to look like the other NON-EYEBROW'd fender.

(I hope this is NOT offensive, BUT, Did you hear about the handsome boy baby born without EYELIDS? During circumcision, they used the skin & grafted him some eyelids, AMAZING!! BUT, except he was slightly ****-eye'd!)
