A couple I've had in the past with the comparatively narrower style wall.

I debated, but went with Halibrands look alike.Besides looking better IMO (not to say that painted rims with beauty rings, small caps, and wide whites don't look great)there's a lot of other benefits like trueness such as no runout and easier to balance.I'm in to making the 40 drive as good as possible.

Great group of beautiful 40's! If I did not have two kids at college I would have a nice black 40 coupe to go with my 36. Had a chance to buy one last year with a built flathead and had to pass!

Here's my '40, a great local rust-free car I found in a garage...been sitting for 25 years. Needed a cosmetic restoration, came out nice...

This '40 convertible showed up in my driveway Saturday afternoon. My 80 year old neighbor took it out for a drive. The car has been in his garage for a few years and this in the only time I have ever seen it move. What a creampuff, its a thing of beauty!

Here's a little something for a contrast! Maybe mine will get to a higher level one day... I'm working on it. Pics were taken after I drove the car around the block... the furtherest it has been continually driven in many, many years. It was exciting but we made it fine.

milt ive never seen any steelies with runout or found them hard to get them balanced.
All steel wheels have some runout whereas forged aluminum wheels have no runout.I didn't say steel wheels were hard to balance, but they're not as easy as forged aluminum wheels. It's a matter of what's more important to a person. If that's the look that I wanted I would live with it.
