Deluxe and Standard

Cowl lights, dome light, and pin striping on the gas tank for the deluxe. Also wood grain dash and garish molding on the deluxe. The standard had none of these items. Some will tell you that the deluxe had a rumble seat also but you could have had it either way. My car is a deluxe coupe that has always had a trunk.
Lots of standards have been "upgraded" over the years. I base my being a deluxe by the original Ford wiring to the dome light and the original wood that holds it.

My coupe has pin striping, cowl lights, dash has been painted no garish molding and no dome light. Don't know if it is up grade are deluxe. picture's in albums.
Thanks
Dana

I agree with the items above. I also have a deluxe coupe. When I took out the headliner, the wiring to the dome light and the wood block for it were both originals. I was aware that many standards had been upgraded, but upon looking at the wiring and wood block (by several people) it was determined they were original. I also have a trunk rather than a rumble seat. I would not trade my trunk for anything; I really like the trunk:).

A little switch on it. I think the only true way to tell is the dome light wiring and wood for the dome light. All the other stuff could be "upgraded" in a restoration. If the wire and wood are original ford I would say its a deluxe. I agree Ken I sought out a trunk car when I bought mine. My title also says deluxe coupe

1930-31 DeLuxe coupes had several features not on Standards, a couple of these have been missed so far I think:

1. Cowl lights
2. Dome light
3. Wood grain garnish & dash rail
4. Pinstripe on gas tank
5. Carpet floor mat
6. Mohair or bedford upholstery
7. Scroll inside door and window hardware

This thread has been real helpful as Im restoring a 31 standard coupe 45-B and it has confirmed a lot of what I had already figured out. A question arises however. If the garnish mouldings and dash rail were not wood grained on the standard model what colour were they painted? Mine are far too weathered to tell. I have seen some pictures of a low miledge unrestored 30 standard coupe and the dash rail and garnishes were painted a red brown colour. Is this correct? Happy Motoring

Sometime in 31 they made roll down back windows available. Only in the deluxe with rumble, I think.

It was reported in the Indy Service Letters on July 27, 1931 that the Deluxe Coupe was to have a adjustable rear window as standard equipment installed at no cost to the customer and was optional equipment in the Standard Coupe if the customer paid for it.

If a rumble seat was installed in the Standard Coupe, the window could be installed at no charge.

Pluck

I've got a standard roadster and my girls and I love it!!! I wouldn't deluxify it for anything.
