The Best 6V generator?

Greetings from Sweden!

I'm having issues finding info about how to compare the best performing 6V generator with a fan mounted to it for a 59A engine in a 32-34 chassi.

Will my 42-48 generator be a good start? Or should i looking for another one?

I have a 33-34 fan that i want to use, is the 81A-10130 -39 standard pulley the way to go? According to the green bible, mac's catalog and other pics i've seen it appears to mounts with a key, not threaded as the 42-48 pulley?

Is the front end plates interchangeable through the years?

Any tips and info would be appreciated.

Parts for 2 brush and 3 brush don't interchange much, Ford made several different pulleys for the 2 brush that will work for converting your later 2 brush for fan mounting, most likely the pulley would have a keyway and need a nut, you may not need to use a key when replacing the "screw on" pulley
There are lots ofr pulleys, the part # you gave is missing a letter after the # that the Ford parts system used to identify which pulley it is, they made several diameters, the Ford "green book" parts book has a listing with pictures, there are also high output 3 brush generators

What do you want for "best performing" ---the most output, best low speed output, high fan speed, lower fan speed, high output at low speed, there are a lot of fan/pulley/generator combinations ---all of them properly restored will be reliable

Okey, i did som research... The best thing would be to get a 79-10139 front end plate to match the 39 standard threaded pulley and to get the big bearing for better support the fan?

Am i getting this right?

By best performing i ment most output and highest durability.

Will the 79-10139 front end plate fit my 42-48 generator?

39 Standard pulley is not threaded, it has a key way and is held on by a nut. Correct???

Have a look at your armature...many, maybe most '42-8 armatures actually have a keyway even though they are made for the threaded pulley.

Charlie NY modified my gen. to take a fan mounted pulley. It fits great and wasn't that much money to have it done.
