56 Y-Block fuel line replacement

It seems that I have messed up the aluminum fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor on a 1956 mercury 312 with a carter four barrel carb. I am not having any luck finding a pre formed line to replace it with, anyone know if it is possible to buy a pre formed line anywhere, or the size of line to bend myself?

Mercer,
The fuel lines are not aluminum, they are steel. I have a '57 Tbird with a 312 ci, and all gas lines are available from any Tbird OR full-size Y-block dealer. Such as Casco Parts, Concours Parts, Larry's Parts, and Prestige Parts. Their lines are pre-bent, ready to install. As for a catalog for their FULL SIZE Ford parts. You can Google for their site. Good luck.

I find a lot of Ford 312, but not much for Mercury. Is there a difference? I did find this at Mac's for a ford

but no picture, and the Ford label made me a little nervous about it.

In 1956 Mercury used the Carter WCFB on some cars. Ford did not. Kind of a one year wonder, and only on the Merc. 312. They also still used the Holley Teapot carb on some '56 Mercs. Unfortuantly the Carter WCFB had the fuel line from the pump go to the front top of the carb instead of the back on the more common Holley carbs.
You might be able to get by with a fuel line for a 1957 Ford 292 or 312 with the Autolite 2100 or 4100 carb since it took the fuel line to the front of the carb too. Don't know if that line is reproduced either. CASCO will not have anything since they deal with T-Bird only, and T-Bird never used the
Autolite or Carter carbs.

I also agree, the lines were steel, and not aluminum. If all else fails, just make your own line.

Also, I just looked at the MAC's site that you attached. The line they are talking about there is for a 1957 Ford with 312 and a Carter 4 bbl. In 1957 they used a Carter AFB and not WCFB on some 312's. And the fuel inlet was on the side of the carb towards the back, so won't work on your WCFB.

If you have the old line, go to a parts store and get the same size tubing and bend it yourself to the same shape. You will need a tubing bender.

Lincolns also used the WCFB if that makes any difference. I think some MK II parts vendors may have one but it could be spendy.

There used to be a place called "Inline Tubing". I don't know if it exists anymore, but about 20 yrs ago I bought preformed stainless steel fuel lines for my '55 from them. Brake lines too.

Inline tubing is still in business and are located near me in Shelby Township MI. They did the stainless brake lines for my '55 Ranch Wagon and were a perfect fit. Excellent quality at good prices.

I took your advice bot a bender and some tubing from the local auto parts, took some time with the old line and it worked out great.

Thanks for the help.
