just fitted front/rear possie springs lowered the car by about 2" all round, sits nice now, did not have a spring spreader(how would one work with reverse eye?) so used 2 trolley jacks and a crowbar and a lot of care!

put those 3 leged tin horses out in todays trash pick up. keep using them & you will be rideing in a herst. there unsafe junk. i want you to enjoy your 36 not be killed or mained by it.

YES give them to the guy you dont like or just set them in frount of you house with a for sale on them over night sume one will steal them that will fix em

I like this look much better than the stock one - you might be careful going up driveways a few times as you may catch the lip of the front fender when you've got the wheel turned to one side. Been there, done that!

I have one of the Posie's reversed eye springs on my '36 Cabriolet. Be careful of how close the second leaf is to the reversed eye, it's very close. When the spring flexes the second leaf runs right into the reversed eye, and you get a loud clunk. I cut back the second leaf a little to give clearance. I also ran into the same problem with my spreader not working, so I took the spring apart and built it up on the car leaf by leaf using c-clamps. Wasn't the safest thing i've ever done.

In the good ole days of being a shade tree mechanic, we disconnected the shackles using a bottle jack under the spring eye and a bumper jack to raise and/or lower the body to increase/decrease tension on the spring. The bottle jack held the spring up so it was somewhat flat.
Of course this was not the safest method to remove a spring, however, it worked.
Attached is a picture of a spring spreader I made years ago. The spreader is a copy of one we used at a Ford garage i worked at in the early 1950's

a spreader would have been useful but how would one work with reverse eyes?

1936coupe,

With the reversed eye spring, how much axle travel do you have between the top of the axle and the rubber axle snubber on the frame? I am considering the same set up as yours on my '39 coupe but was concerned about the axle bottoming out on the frame with minor bumps in the road. Thanks, Bruce
