Jist use a "sideways' feeler gauge & bend the ground electrode, & hope it doesn't BREAK +*%&$%&%$# OFF!
Well, thet's whut Chief tole me to do & he worked on Model T's & Model A's ever since his FIRST Dog wuz a PUP!

Hey Joe,
I have several old plug 'feeler' gauges. This type gauge had/has a tool (little hook/U shaped integral section ) that you hook over the ground electrode for bending. The idea is...you carefully bend the electrode a small amount, where it attaches near the threads..upward. Then you can tap the end of ground electrode ..downward/inward to achieve gap. You can also take a good quality nail/point file and clear carbon/whatever from end to achieve gap needed.

Just a thought on side ground electrodes: Friend, Carl, had a fleet of tired, old Chev Ice Cream trucks that fouled plugs consistently from running 5 MPH in low gear all day!
He saved & cleaned old Volvo spark plugs, bent the ground electrode ALONGSIDE the center electrode & most of the time, they'd run for weeks without fouling! I have NO idea what heat range they were, but he always preferred BOSCH brand.
With point type ignition, I once ran my Datsun-510 for a week, with the ground electrode cut off & ground smooth! They were NGK-B6ES plugs. The BP6ES plugs, with the projected tips, probably wouldn't have worked, except if I would have had ELETRONIK ignition.
