Overseas Freight

Well maybe I'll stir up a few people here but I have a beef.
I'm new on the block with regards to flathead V8's and have always worked on my trusty old "A" Model, parts were/are purchased from Snyders in US. Why is it that I can order parts on line say Thursday night (in Australia)
and have them delivered to my door on Tuesday morning and not cost the earth for overseas freight. With V8 stuff it's a different story. Don't get me wrong I love how we can easily obtain parts for the old V8's but why can't we get them as quick as "A" model stuff ?.
Maybe I should move to the states.

How recently have your gotten that speedy service? Was it shipped via US Postal Service, or UPS, FedEx, DHS?

Used Fedex, admittedly been a few months from Snyders. Order one day, in Honolulu the next day, in Sydney the day after. Two days to Gladstone QLD.

Who are you buying from?
Have used a couple of suppliers. But mainly C & G who are great to deal with. It sounds like you barners in US get one or two days delivery from them. I don't mind the delay as the 33 and myself are in no hurry to go anywhere (Yet).

It is not just Flathead V8 parts I order parts for resto,s every week in the last year or so shipping from the USA has doubled in price and service has drop off
try O,Neills Vintage Ford in England great guys good prices for both parts and shipping and fast
Royal Mail 3-5 day to Melbourne

C @ G are usually pretty good. 4 - 5 days to Brisbane. I've had 2 deliverys in the last couple of weeks from them and both were 5 days

Maybe they are waiting on back order parts to come in before they are shipped.

I just shipped some items to a friend in Australia. Our local post office told me that shipping USPS Priority Flat Rate was the best and least expensive way to ship these parts. I probably had total of 30 pounds of parts to ship. It was also less costly to split this shipment into two boxes (one large, one medium) rather than using one larger box. I don't know how many of our US suppliers are willing to ship USPS Priority Flat Rate, but they would more than likely save the customer shipping fees if they did.

Try Joe's Antique Auto in Massachusetts.

Always fast and reasonable shipping here in the states. He's a real car guy and if he's got what you need I'm sure you'll be happy but I don't know if he ships down under. Worth checking with him IMO.
