Hi
Does anyone know a source for after market adapters to adapt a Model A emergency brake handle and a pedal bracket assembly from a 1930 Model A to a 1939 trans.

I'm putting a 1949 -53 Flathead with a 1939 trans in a 1930 Ford 2Dr Sedan.
Thanks

Several of the vendors sell adapters. This page has individual bits or the complete kit. Is that what you're looking for?

(I was just researching this this morning)

If you don't have the Bishop/Tardel book "How to Build a Traditional Ford Hot Rod" you might try to get one. The book addresses the center cross member, pedals, and E-brake adapter that they used for installing a 59A engine in a model A. They used a modified 1932 K-member and pedals. This allowed them to use an unsplit 32 wishbone to locate the front axle. Others have succesfully used F1 Ford pick up crossmembers too with different pedals. The 8BA motor will be a challenge to get in there but it has been done before.

BISHOP/TARDEL BOOK: have read many places (HAMB and others) that some (many) of the dimensions in book are WRONG and evidently haven't been corrected.

The v-8 trans kit is made by Clings, I bought one for my 29 and must say that is the best money ever spent, I love the new trans. I am running a 38 and it is great. If you can't find clings, let me know. I have it saved somewhere. They also specialize in juice brake conversions. Great company to deal with too!

Thanks to all who responded to my question. It's great to have a couple of sources. Thanks Again.

Just in case you missed it ... for those who might be putting a V8 ****** behind a Model A engine or Model B engine with a cutdown oil pan.

There is some good info on the wishbone bracket here
http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/3937

that did not come with the adapter kit that I bought!

I think most of the addapters are for a 39 3-speed top shift trans adapted to a Model A engine. The 8BA will not have any rear mounting provisions to the frame plus the frame will need some reinforcement when you are installing a heavy 100 HP V8 engine in place of a 40 HP banger. The Bishop/Tardel book is about the ideas of the installation. If you want measurements you'll have to use your tape measure and figure it out yourself. The Hokey Assed Message Board (HAMB) on the Jalopy Journal web-site has a lot of in formation about building an AV8. Searches there will answer a lot of questions because you are going to have plenty.
