I purchased late 1931 pickup . The engine has a number of AA 1058661 or AA1058861 can anyone help on the production dated and is this the correct engine for this truck?
Where else are there ID numbers located on this truck?
Thank you
Glenn

Glenn,

If the engine is not a restamp, then it is the wrong engine for your 1931 Model A Pickup. Actually it is the same as the "A" engines except originally Ford put larger springs in the clutch system on the AA'''s and that was the only difference.

"AA" engines were installed in the Big Iron Ford Trucks. The correct engine for your 1931 Pickup should start with an "A".

Again, if the engine is not a restamp, then more than likely the AA1058661 or AA1058861 was originally stamped in Dearborn at the Ford Motor Company on February 16, 1929.

To locate the original engine number that was stamped on the frame, you would have to lift the body off of the frame and look on the top most part of the left hand frame rail under the cowl section.

Go to my website www.plucks329s.org then go to Additional Studies, then go to Letters, Numbers and Codes and there you can learn all about it.

Pluck
