Chevy valve application

Hi Tim, haven't had the opportunity to get the part number on the locks yet, we purchase most of these components in bulk and have different numbers when we order.

Most valve locks we order come in a box of a 100, we really don't need wrapped/packaged pieces here!

The Manley part numbers above are incorrect, this info I have here. That is a 10* machined lock with a +.050" I.H. Will not fit a 7* retainer?

Not using too much Manley product I can't fill in the blanks. We use Crane or Crower for most "up & down" locks!

Thanks, Gary in N.Y.

P.S. I will try to get the correct part numbers this evening!

Hi Gary:

Thanks. I appreciate it.

I'm going to send you a PM about some other stuff.

Thanks for that link Ronnie. Read the description closely before ordering. I think their "up" and "Down" designations are tailored for OH valves. It takes a "down" lock to shorten the installed height.

Excellent advice, those are "pressed/hardened" locks, they are not machined.

May be fine to use but not here! They are prone to cracking. For the slight price difference I would choose the machined pieces! Again, this is from a business standpoint!

You can actually purchase 200 or so of these (pressed/hardened) locks for about 18.00 from Pioneer!

P.S. However, there is a very distinct advantage to the Flathead, if a lock/keeper fails the valve will not "fall-into" the pistons/bores!

Makes no difference flat or ohv.!!! Up or down refers to increase or decrease installed height.(spring installed length) Takes a downlock in all instances to shorten dimension,

Lets see how many cracked locks Walt and Ron have seen in all their years of flat fun .
Won't be many. With 50lbs installed height the non machined locks will do just fine,Overkill in someone others reply's. "LOL" :) These flat motors are not 1 hp for cubic inch fire breathing monsters.Just nostalgic street driving fun.

I like to see allot of flatheads out there and not many people want to spend a thousand dollars on a valve job for a daily driver.

I was just cautioning someone who might order the up lock from your link thinking it would make the flathead spring installed height shorter. That's all.
