Attaching screw to radiator emblem on 37

I have had trouble finding a way to attach a screw to the back of the 85 HP V8 Emblem that goes on the radiator of the 37. I have tried Super Glue and JB Weld, but to no avail. Has anyone had this experience? Any suggestions?? Can it be welded?

Thanking you in advance............:)

You should have no trouble using JB weld as an adhesive for the screws on you grille emblem. Clean the back of the emblem with steel wool, mix up a spot of JB weld about the size of a pencil eraser and dab that amount on to the back of the emblem in the approximate position of the old studs. Now sink the head of the screw you are using into the adhesive mix and allow the plastic resin to cure unitl stiff. Trim back any excess plastic with a razor knife and allow the resin to finish cure for 24hrs and mount the emblem.

Thanks Dick. Just curious.............How did the emblem come originally?

I have tried JB Weld, but the "weld" did not last. BUT, I will try it again.

Another question. Why doesn't the repo emblem come with a screw attached??

Thanks for your patience.

Your original question ,do you mean the grill emblem for a 1937 Ford passenger car ? The original ones both 60 hp and 85 hp came with two studs attached like brazed on back of emblem and two small nuts and two retainers I guess you would call them that fit into back of grill bars. reproduction should be the same as Bob Drakes are very high quality,if yours do not have the two small studs they were left off or knocked off, send it back if you can. You say radiator emblem so mayby you are talking about something else.

I manufactured the emblems years ago as reproduction items in stainless steel, Louis Trinqe also made these stamped brass and chrome plated, there were also others that were made as a casting recently Drake has also remanufactured these parts in all cases screws are soldered to the back of the stamping. If your adhesive did not stick you did not have the surface clean. Remember these are emblems you do not have to gorrilla tighten the nuts to hold the part in place. There is a clip that fits between the grille bars to support a lock washer and nut, simply tighten the nut up so that it is snug on the clip and the emblem will be along for the ride. If you are worried about it loosening it up put a dab of clear nail polish on the threads and you are good to go.
