All. Great ideas. I have installed new intake and exhaust manifolds along with the new stainless muffler system when I started working on the car back in February. I can't find any exhaust leaks at the exhaust manifold. I used the Hi Temp copper sealant. I could not get the copper gasket to fit and after trying several methods I called the supplier of the new tail pipe and muffler system and was told not to use the copper gasket or the tubular insert between the manifold and the exhaust pipe flange. They said you don't use either with the stainless system. Is this correct? The tail pipe is the stock dimension as the original length of the old one I took off. Should I extend it farther back like a newer car?
I will pull the manifolds and check for cracks and bad gaskets. Even though it's new it could still have a problem. When I reinstall the stainless exhaust system system should I use either the tube insert or the copper gasket?
The fumes I get is the same as when I run the car in the garage. I can understand getting the exhaust smell in the garage but not outside or when I am stopped at a signal.
I am starting to go down the route of the carb running to rich creating excessive unburned gas. The new flow tested jets should rule that out.
Again thanks to all. Truly appreciated.
