Wind lace question

I have a 1930 closed cap pickup. My question is, did the model a pickup come out of the factory with wind lacing installed?
What will be gained if i install wind lacing on my pickup?
Thanks for your comments, always most helpful.

MurphyJ,

Is your 1930 CC body that of the 28,29, early 30 type or the 30-31 type?

I am almost certain that the windlace was in the body when the body was assembled to the chassis as it came down the assembly line.

What will be gained?...No air drafts.

Mine is a late '31. Question is: was the windlace attached to the door or the cowl?

On my 31 it's mounted on the door at the Cowl pillar. You may find a folded track at the top of the door where the welt (wrapped in paper) was wedged in,(pinched?) then at the lower section below the window it was tucked and tacked behind the door panel. Not only does the welt stop dust and wind but it cuts down on noise as well. After painting (I believe) the paper cover was removed from the welt/lacing leaving a clean install. Now the back of the door is another story....

Now, my next question is; Does anyone sell the windlace or do you have to make it up. I bought some of the rubber "bulb" from one of the vendors, but I haven't seen any already made up.

I too got some of that bare rubber windlace filler. I gues I couls have used it but when we ordered up the interior kit the windlace came with it, cloth covered, and cut almost to length required.
