My temperature gauge, 35 Ford, reads right at the hot line after running for a while, however, the water temp shows at about 170 degrees when checking it using a cooking thermometer. It sits at about mid way when it is cold. A couple of folks mentioned recently in another post that you could put the temp gauge in the freezer for a few moments and it would run the fluid down to the bottom, and correct the gauge reading. Does this really work, or is it an old wives tale? I have also heard that you could spin it around and around your head for a few moments and the fluid would settle down to the bottom. I am not about to pull my sending unit out, but I thought I might take it loose from the engine and hold a couple pieces of dry ice on it for a few moments and see if that would help. Any truths to these two rumored "fixs"? Inquiring minds want to know. (Sure wish this site had a spell check feature. lol)
