Re-wire job

harness will cost you around $350, labor around 8 hrs so $400, the harness wires are labled every 6", so you should be able to do it your self

I converted a '55 Courier wagon to 12volts and installed all new wiring back in the year 1998. But I did it all myself, so I couldn't tell ya what it would cost to have someone else do it. I wouldn't trust em to do it right anyway.
Use 1956 Ford generator, voltage regulator, dash gauges, sending units and change all light bulbs to 12volt. Keep dash light switch and courtesy switches, theyre fine as is. You will need to replace horns with 12volt also.

What would I expect to pay to have a '54 ford completely re-wired to 12v - parts & labor.

Does your '54 need new wires or are you changing the wires for 12v. 6v wires are more than adequate for 12v.

You can install 12 to 6v voltage regulators on your gauges.

5 years ago I purchased complete rewiring set from commercial company and did the work myself -$1,000. Left it 6 volt.

I did my 56 victoria myself .I used a rebel9 + 3harness.It was easy. But im an electronic technician by trade so it was easy for me but its not rocket surgery!

I don't think you need to re-wire to change to 12 volts. Just change things like the generator, regulator, voltage reducer for the dash gauges, horn relay, battery, all bulbs etc. The old 6 volt wiring is probably even a slightly heavier gage. Unless you want to change the wiring because it's in bad condition.

When I rewired my '54 I replaced all of it, the old cloth insulation was rotted so bad just touching it made it fall off also found corrosion in many of the sockets and contacts. It is also easier to do the dash wiring with the dash out.Seriously oj, $3500? We had guys with no experience do the 9+3 kit in less than a day,Rebel Tech people are top notch, have a problem? Just pick up the phone, ask for Bob Miller.

Jeff, im with you, its usually an 8 hr job, its real easy if you have a helper to help run the wires and hand you tools

when I did my wagon I used an e-z to wire harness I added a/c fuel pump stereo ect it took the better part of a weekend just changed the reg for gauges and bulbs most kits have a horn circuit in them with the relay in them if you have some mechanical skills you can do it most directions are easy to follow. I also changed the harness in my 64 ranchero as it was chopped up and moved it from on top of the headlamp switch to behind the seat

When you get that harness one thing you should add to it is this:http://www.ebay.com/itm/281146739569?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Many of the guys in my 1952-59 Ford Group which I moderate complain of dim headlights the relays will cure that issue which is from the Halogens higher current demand. Here is some good reading regarding relays: http://www.watsons-streetworks.com/tips Click on the first section "A current topic" if you will be adding any accessories do add the HD relay to your ignition switch.

This sounds like a shameless plug to me.
I am a professional and do professional quality work do not insult me comparing what a novice can do to what I have to do. I bet you can paint your car in less than a day too.

The last total rewire I did was on a 40 Packard and it took 2 days. At my shop rate that is $1,200 labor. Used a YNZ harness which fit perfectly.

I used an e-z wire harness on my "55f-100.I had never done any thing like it before and was a bit concerned about it.Turned out to be a piece of cake and was sort of fun .I wouldn't hesitate to do another if I had to.I added a new 1 wire alternator , new steering column with flashers and all the works and all new 12 volt gauges. Also added a new 12 volt starter and lockout switch for c-4 transmission .So simple a caveman could do it . Jmo
