What's the rest of the story?

Do you have a picture oh the of the box or is that the actual shipping box in the photo?

Did the carb shop make good by sending another top/carb?

If you were truly screwed by the shop by not receiving any compensation for the damage please let us know who did this.

Wow,you must have been shocked when opening the box. Do you blame the carrier or the packing (usually the packing in my experience).

It's a local shop that I use. I forgave them and took it home, I kind of thought that it was over their head before I brought it in. They mostly do Quadrajets and holleys so this is VERY foreign to them. He said that he tried finding a replacement but had no luck finding one. No worries, I'll buy a rebuilt off Ebay I guess.

This guy owe's you big time. Take It back and tell him you want to be compensated , there is no excuse for this kind of workmanship, or should I say lack of it. These simple carbs are so easy to repair I dont see how some one could be so careless.

Too late he already said the receipt of the broken carb is ok. It's not something you or I would do but he did.

Ebay is full of cores, fordbarn is full of cores but like i said too late.

No big grin, so I guess you DO like the fine job.:D:p

I was trying to figure out how this happened, but I'd guess they were drilling the fuel inlet for the helicoil and didn't have the housing properly clamped.

One of the carb guys should have a good top for you to use.

Right now on Ebay there are a bunch of tilly parts for sale. Including a Tilly X with a broken lower housing along with a bunch of other Tilly and Zenith parts of varying condition.

Heh. I looked at the listing and wondered why exactly someone would attempt to sell such a mess of pottage on Ebay. I would have thrown most of what he offered in the scrap metal bin.

But now I know. Parts is parts. And frequently the only way back.

I'm stingy though. I think you could pin it and reassemble with JB Weld.
