Headlight will not work

Good advice above. Sounds like it could be a combination of things. Were the headlights working before you replaced the wiring and sockets? if they weren't I suspect you still have your original problem with the light you replaced the bulb in. You could also have a ground issue with the new sockets and/or the wiring harness itself or the switch. I'd check voltage of the harness leads. Disconnect from headlight and check. If all do not have voltage disconnect the harness from the switch and check for continuity of harness old wiring and also check the switch for voltage. If harness is bad check continuity of the wiring harness & if good reinstall it. If switch is bad you've found problem 1. If switch is good move on to the head lamp sockets and make sure they are not grounding out and the wire contacts are sitting in the sockets correctly. Reconnect the sockets to the headlamps (one side at a time) and then see what lights up. Remove each bulb (one at a time) that fails to light and check ground & also continuity for each wire. Once working move to the other side and repeat. It was working before so it will work again. Its the small things that are the most difficult to find. Good luck. Tim

Thanks for all the feedbackI did use a voltage meter and I do have power to the sockets.

Which sockets? At the base of the shell, or the bulb sockets inside the shell?

Also watch that the contacts at the base of the shell don't move sideways and short only when connected to the shell.

Do you have a fuse on your starter? If you do, I would think it would be burning out if it was a short. The flickering sounds an awful lot like a short in the headlamp.

One time I tightened my headlight adjusting screws too tight and when I turned my headlight switch on my amp gauge went way neg.

You may need to check the switch You say you have other lights then when you turn the head lights on you are going to the next bump in switch and all go off maybe that part of the switch is bad.
