Most everyone here has something worthwhile to offer. Think of it as the cyber equivalent of the corner barbershop. Everyone has a million dollars worth of advice; some will provide it shoved up your a$$, 5 cents at a time.

If any one has a lightened f/w let me know how much shipped to 31088. Sure would like to add one to my speedster.

I don't want to highjack this thread.
Let me throw out what I'm thinking. If the wheel needs to lose about 12# or so when counterbalanced, then what about cutting the wheel weight about in half [30-35#] and have everything balanced.

I think Les Andrews has a good writeup on this in Vol II, including a diagram on what to cut off.

Bill Stipe at Stipe machine and James Rogers at Dreamwerks offer lightened flywheels in various weight and clutch choices. Snyders offers a lightened by 16 lbs. flywheel with V8 clutch exchange. If you can find a model B flywheel, mine is 18 lbs lighter and uses the same clutch as the model A. Flywheels are heavy. If you can buy a lightened flywheel outright, you won't have to pay shipping both ways.

IN HALF! Bro Patrick?????????? Have you ever seen a FLYWHEEL go through a COWL? I've seen 2, but by some miracle, no one was injured! Bill W. (Remember, these are OOOOLD flywheels that we are cuttin' on!!)

Yep, actually I have on more than one occasion.
A new clutch that came apart on the Cobra and again when the flywheel flange broke on the SS Plymouth. Both times it about cut the cars in half and burnt up the Cobra.

James Rogers at Dreamworks did mine...ended up at 36#. I've got a '36 V8 clutch & pressure plate ready to mate up to it. Should be close to 30# lighter than the stock setup altogether.
