I want to mount my engine on a engine stand so i can rotate it. can i safely make mounting brackets to bolt to the bell housing? will the bell housing hold the weight of the engine?

I just bolted mine to a regular engine stand using the bolt holes for the bell housing.
Might be wrong but it's working??

I guess it might depend on what your wanting to do but I used the water inlet to rebuild mine. Wonky harbor freight engine stand didnt like it mounted long ways...

I had mine bolted to the bell housing as well when I overhauled the motor. Did fine the whole time. I also used a traditional engine stand. No need to make brackets to mount it that way.

I used to bolt to water inlet and pan rail now I bolt the back of the block mainly because I like to fit the oil pan before removing from the stand
