How many clicks on the E-brake?

Is there any rule of thumb on how many clicks to get when you pull the emergency brake from fully off to fully on?

I was shown how to do it years ago,the old mechanic told me three.Off,zero drag. On,wheels locked.Seems to work for me.

i have found those repo e-brake handles do not lock in very well. i had to grind the teeth deeper. i find it hard to trust them

3 is good. My RPU is three and it is nice that way. My Phaeton is about 5 or so and it starts to tangle with the shifter (29). Anyway, that will be adjusted soon; it's on my list of to-do's sooner than later.

You might check the MARC Judging Standards. Page 10 Preliminary Judging. Item 14 b "Emergency brake firm at 3 to 4 clicks."

Three to four clicks, with properly functioning emergency brake shoes, will hold the car just fine.

My emergency brake to work well when it is pulled to the "on" position. My question is how does one adjust for the off position? It feels that the brake is not off completly although I don't hear any dragging>
Thanks for your time.

joe ill attempt to help you with your question,

jack up the rear of the car under the center of differential and place the trans in neutral and e-brake off. spin each rear wheel by hand you should not feel a significant drag. they should spin pretty free if either feels to tight, loosen the foot brake adjustment behind the backing plate to see if that helps reduce the drag. if its still tight remove the rod that actuates the e-brake for that wheel at the adjustable end. reset that rod so the drag dissapears when hooked up and you should be good to go. hope this helps
