I have 2 rebuilt Model A Ford motors and will sell 1.
One is a diamond block that was rebuilt several years ago and has never been run ($2000). The second is a Model B motor with a counterweigh crank and a high speed police head ($2500). I also have a rebuilt Model AA transmission with an AA bell housing and an original adapter that allows it to be installed in a passenger car or truck. This adapter is the same adapter used for a Warford transmission ($350). Prefer local pickup. I will eventually be taking pictures of the motors. I might also be selling an unrestore front end ($100) and a rebuilt rear end ($300).

The diamond engine were made after the Model A years. They have heavier casting and casting marks (see added picture). They are called diamond engine because they have a small diamond someplace on the casting. It was rebuilt many years ago by Dave Kitchen who restored Model A's for a living, before he passed away. It was restored, but never run. I have no paperwork on either engine. A serious buyer is welcome to disassemble either engine.

Does the Model B Engine have the modified oil pan to fit a Model A or is it strictly a B Oil pan. Also, what type of counter weights. Would it happen to be a BB Crank with a 3/8 inch over lay over the rod bearings? Thanks, Dick B.

Dick,
The B motor has the modified pan so it fits in a Model A.
The person I bought it from said in an email "It has the counterweighted crank that was forged in one piece. It is the one that can be reground without removing the weights. This engine was also balanced. It is very smooth running engine, with plenty of power. It has a rear main seal that was installed by Stan Vermell, and it did not leak. B motors are nortorius for leaking out the rear main because of the pressure oil to the mains. It will drip a drop or two after driving it all day on a long trip, it did not come from the bottom of the bell housing but from the back of the pan. I replaced the pan gasket and checked the bearings, it has not been run. There are no knocks and it ran cool. I t never overheated or blew out water. I ran this engine in a slant window fordor and did not have any problem with power".
I would prefer to keep this Model B motor, but selling one of these motors will help pay to transport a new Model A. Regards, Neil

Concerning the Model B motor:
It is set up for Model A, Rebuilt with approximately 4,000 miles on it. Has modern valves and guides, counter weighted B crank with Model A Police head with the ”B”. This engine was rebuilt using a crack free block, new babbit, reground crank, 10 under mains and 20 under for the rods. Bored 30 thousands over with metal timing gears.

Concerning the rebuilt Model A diamond engine. I removed the pan and took off one rod bearing cap. The babbit is new with a thick amount of shims. The cap still had oil on it. I also removed the head. The cylinders are bored 40 over. The number one cylinder will need to be honed out. There was a small amount of rust at the top of the piston which had an effect on the cylinder wall. I'm displaying several pictures.

Note the difference between the front of these 2 engines. One is smooth. The other (diamond engine) has casting marks.
