Stuck Intake Valve

I am just starting up a flathead V-8 that has sat for five or more years. I got it running but there is a intake valve stuck open on #6 cylinder. Is there an easy way to free this valve without taking the head off? I ran it last nite long enough to warm it up to operating temperature then after that I took out the plug and sprayed Kroil into the stuck valve area. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Remove the intake manifold (aka "valve chamber cover) and you can access the valve stem through the intake port and in the chamber. Can then squirt it
and work it free, hopefully...

Two options.
1: Remove the intake manifold and free it up from there with Kroil. You can move it up and down from there.

and or

2: Put Marvel Mystery oil in the fuel tank and run it as before.

Turn the engine over until the exhaust valve is open. Then put a punch through the spark plug hole and tap lightly on the intake. You do not want to bend the valve. If the valve closes you are in luck and repeating this a few times should free it up. Following the other suggestions of mm oil in the fuel will assist afterwards. I had good luck doing this in a motor that had not run for years.

OOPS! simultaneous posts Richard. Great minds work in similar ways.

Naw, got you by 3 minutes... My experience is bite the bullet and remove the intake. Stuff in the gas might work, but will take too long...
They make really nasty noises when a valve is stuck open...and run like....

Nasty noises, you bet! When my "A" motor had a sticky valve, it scared the begesses out of me!

Don't want to mess around with stuck valves too much. The stuck intake took the exhaust valve out. This is an old, flathead farm engine.

I had the same problem with #3 intake. I tried spraying kroil in the plug hole, no good. Took the intake off and sprayed into the port directly at the valve and let it sit. no good. I also asked here and everyone said.... pull the head. So I pulled the head and tried to work it out by spraying and tapping gently to free it up. still no good. it would stick everytime I rotated the engine. So, I pulled the valve while it was up and had to use channel lock pliers to rotate and pull that valve. It came out and I could see where the kroil went down the stem, but a tiny piece of carbon was making it stick. I cleaned up the valve and it moved freely in the guide, but I had a nice set of extras from another block,so I lapped one into the cyl and put it all back together and now it runs smooth! Before I did this, she'd pop thru the carb! no more of that.
So, the best advice is to pull the head on the stuck side and take the valve out and clean the stem, and the guide and put it back together. These guys know thier stuff, so heed thier advice and yank the head.
