Horn & Line Question

Being new to the Model A community, I hope someone can answer these questions?

My 1931 Model A horn needs work. I took it apart and it apears to be different from the diagrams posted on the website. The frame around the motor is spot welded together. It appears I will need to seperate the spot welds to disassemble the motor. Any idea who makes this horn, it has no stamped markings, I can see where a dataplate or sticker use to be?

Also, can some tell me what the tube coming from the firewall to the manifold is for? Mine is damaged and I cannot find a replacement in any of the parts books? Jerry

It sounds like your horn may be an aftermarket reproduction. There have been several offered over the years. A&L makes a very high quality reproduction that you could use, or search the past posts there are a few people who do restoration and repair of the horns. The tube from the firewall to the manifold is the vacuum for your windshield wiper.

Bert's, Bratton's, Snyder's, and most of the other parts houses sell the vavuum line from the manifold to the firewall, and be sure to buy the special fitting for the manifold if you don't already have it.

Thanks for the info. My car is missing the windshield wiper; I would never have known that. It will probally run better if I broke it off untill I get one.

Depending on what you want to spend, you can find some good replacement horns on either this site or on EBay. Need to be sure they work and the seller will guarantee that.
