Shippers UPS

Very bad business with UPS, they damaged my radiator beyond repair, even after they professionally packaged it. Now today a package arrived with a big hole and missing parts. Is it just me or anyone else been having bad service/business with UPS. My 30/31 radiator was a perfect unit just needing a new core.

UPS has been flawless for me over the years. The regular driver knows all the customers in my small town and is very helpful. If he has a package requiring a signature and I am away he will track down a neighbor to sign for me. The FedEx guy is no help at all.

Are you kidding,?? I will NEVER send any item thru them again, or RECOMMEND them to anyone.. Just try & file a lost or damage claim & see what happens ??.."A TOTAL JOKE" P.S. 99 % of boxes I get are busted open, even when re-enforced by sender...

I have had much better luck with shipping FedEx. UPS has surcharges on gas and other things with bug me. I think FedEx handles packages better than UPS.

please note. the UPS union contract states NO Employee can ever be fired for damage to a package...
FEDEX states, excessive damage will result in termination..
NUFF SAID???

In my experience as a retired mail order business owner most damage is from parcels being thrown or tossed at sorting terminals and from pileups on the conveyors. In my area UPS drivers pick up their trucks already loaded at the area terminal, with business district parcels loaded in the middle of the truck and outlying area parcels on the shelves. They do downtown areas to clear the center of the truck then do outlying areas. UPS drivers are employees. FedEx drivers are independent contractors. Professionalism and driver courtesy is varied. My regular UPS driver is an older driver, pleasant, and courteous. and leaves parcels on the protected front porch. On the other hand my local FedEx driver ignores the protected front porch and goes to the back door and leaves parcels right under a roof downspout so they get wet if it rains. I've talked to him and it does no good. The old joke is that FedEx and UPS merge and become FedUP.

UPS SUCKS!That is why I use FedEx Ground. [QUOTE=oldredford;76255]Very bad business with UPS, they damaged my radiator beyond repair, even after they professionally packaged it. I too, have never had a bad experience with UPS, on things sent or recieved. Have never had a damaged box, (i'll now probably get one tomorrow). My regular driver is top notch, and the local distribution center is only a few miles away.

I get excellent service from UPS. Small town situation where the driver is a local guy who knows most of his customers. If he sees me in town he pulls my package and gives it to me so I don't have to wait until he gets to the house. FedEx drivers never seem to be the same driver & anything is possible. For a while we had a driver that didn't seem to speak english and left packages at a detached garage away from the house. We couldn't get him to understand that was not the house. Not much available within 75 miles so we order a lot online. Don't believe I've ever had an item damaged by either company although I've had some packaged so poorly it's a miracle.

My UPS guy gets a gift card at Christmas and my service is excellent! From reading the posts, it seems that those of us living in small towns or rural areas seem to get better service. When I owned a mail order company, the best service was from the USPS!

I have gotten maybe 50 packages a year for the last 8 or so years, probably 75% via UPS. Maybe once or twice something came damaged, and only once or twice did the package not show up by the scheduled date that their tracking system gave me. I can't complain about that.

The guy who delivered to my old house a few years ago was especially pleasant and courteous, and joked with me about the old M.A.S.H episode where Radar shipped an entire jeep back to the states, one piece at a time...

I run a veterinary hospital and we receive up to 15 or more boxes from UPS every day. A very very few are ever less than perfect. Our driver is top-notch. The Fed-Ex guy who picks up our samples for outside lab testing is always a beast. Your experience may vary-these guys ship tens of millions of packages and there are bound to be a few screw-ups with all of them.

I stopped using UPS 7 years ago. Boxes started coming torn up and sometimes dropped off at another house [sometimes 2 miles away.]. Never used Fed-ex... I always use for the past 7 years U.S.Postal Service. To this day NEVER a lost item or busted up box :).I tell the mail lady i am expecting a box to watch out for it and i find it inside my door with a note in the mail box to backup the delivery. I pay more sending it by PRIORITY MAIL but something's are worth sending it that way.:D

Fred,
You're right and you're wrong! I also will never either again use UPS! However, after on two separate occasions... smashing to smitherines..two rare old top loaders, I went to 'discuss' insurance/compensation with the UPS 'franchise' owner. He flatly stated..'doesn't have a thing to do with me'..sue me! Well, heck, that's just what I did! Now I'm here to tell you it ain't easy(small claims court), but...sometimes 'things' work as designed. With proper documentation and other evidence, UPS didn't even send a representative(either time:D:D). Yup, got damages plus cost/expences..so even tho it takes time/time and time..winning is sweet!! Now ship with Fedex/USPS and never have had a problem...oh and Greyhound!
BTW..the franchise owner stated that UPS employees are immune to job loss or corrective action for ANY damages they do..can you say union?

I've only had bad experience with UPS (useless parcel service). I was charged import duties when the price was under the Australian limit for paying import duties, and then they would not deliver the item until the charges are paid. With my bush lawyer hat on, that sounds like extorsion to me. Never going to use them again and I tell everybody I know that are about to use them to look out for extra charges.
