Lead damage?

I have a 1931 model aa ford. I know lead didn't show up in fuel till mid 1930s. So it probably won't need it, but will lead in the fuel damage an engine ? I know the lack of lead in an engine that needs it will damage it, but does the opposite?

as Tom said, no real serious damage, lead will cause carbon deposits on plugs and valves and pistons after many thousands of miles, 50,000 miles

These engine will run on almost anything without "damage". Dirty, gummed up yes but damage no.
